This past year has gone by fast. Everyone says that babies/kids grow fast, but I don’t think I really understood what they were talking about until now when I have my own baby, and his first year of life has already happened!
At birth Payson weighed 9 lbs 6 oz, was 19.5 inches long! At one year old he weighs 20lbs 9 oz, and is 29 inches long. His head at the time of birth was in the 10th percentile, and throughout his whole first year it grew, shrunk, grew, shrunk!! At one year his head is in the 50th percentile at 46.5 cm.
Payson is such a cute boy, and it has been so fun watching every new development! As a big sister most of my life (even with a brother who is 17 years younger than me), I don’t think I noticed every new thing- every new step along the way to learning what life is all about as my siblings grew older, but as a mom I have got to see first hand every new trick, action, and development that my son has learned his first year of life. I am lucky because I know I have a lot more tricks, actions, and developments to watch and help Payson understand as he continues to get older!
We had a birthday party for Payson a few days early because my brother, Benji, was here visiting. He had a medical school interview in Iowa, and was cool enough to stay an extra day with us!
I made Payson a birthday shirt and birthday bug hat. My idea was to make everything “Love Bug” themed because he was born on Valentine’s Day!
I even attempted to make a love bug cake. This was my first time giving fondant a try. I made my own fondant with marshmallows and powdered sugar. The cake did not turn out as I envisioned because dying fondant was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and the colors did not turn out even close to what I thought they would! Plus, I saw all these cute cakes on Pinterest, and thought mine would turn out just as Awesome!! ha ha- I should have known better!!
I am making it sound like the cake was a failure, and it really wasn’t THAT bad!! Josh and Benji thought it was cute! Plus, Payson didn’t care if it was perfect!!
The rest of the pictures explain themselves!!
On Payson’s actual birthday (also Valentine’s Day) we went out to lunch!
We kind of celebrated his birthday all week because he kept getting packages from his Awesome grandparents! He loved everything he got for his birthday! I have pictures of him playing with his different presents, but they are on different devices and not on my computer right now!! I do, however, have the cutest video of Payson and I reading his favorite mini board book. (My mom got Payson a bunch of mini board books. He has a favorite, and he wants to read it all the time),
As you watch the video- pay close attention to the snake sound Payson makes, and ignore me! I don’t have any makeup, and my hair is wet from just getting out of the shower!!
I know I put a lot of videos in this blog, and you may or may not have watched them all, but this final video is one I made of Payson’s first year of life!
Payson is truly a blessing in our lives! We love him, and we love to hear him call us mom or dada!! Hopefully, we will have many more years with this beautiful boy we have been blessed with!
