Payson is our precious little guy, and we love him so much! Here’s the story:
The labor started with a Hollywood Water Breaking! Everyone (including the books and internet) said it doesn’t happen like you see in the movies, so I was expecting to labor at home for hours before I went to the hospital. Well, my water broke February 14th at 2:45 AM. I wasn’t having contractions, so it was a weird experience. We got to the hospital about 4 AM.
The labor didn’t progress much from the time we got there until 9 hours later when they started me on pitocin. The pitocin kick started my contractions. I went from a 4 to a 6.5 in 5 min. and the contractions went from hardly anything to “Oh, My Heck” bad in those 5 min. They took me off the pitocin, meaning I was only on it for 5 minutes. I got an epidural, and it was “Heaven.”

I didn’t start pushing until 6 PM that evening, and had Payson at 7:25 PM! The cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times, and was double the length of most umbilical cords, but he was perfect. His apgar scores were 8 and 9! I was able to watch his whole birth with a mirror, and it was so neat. Josh got to cut the umbilical cord.
Payson weighed 6’ 9” and was 19.5 inches long.
Payson has a little bit of Jaundice and had to go get a billi-rubin test every morning for the first 5 days of his life. He is looking good now, and is as sweet as can be. We love him so much, and I can’t even imagine my life without our precious baby. He was meant to come to us, and he will be with us forever.
